Josef Beckmann

Josef August Beckmann (born April 18, 1900 in Essen , † October 16, 1971 in Venice ) was a German politician, member of the CDU and a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament .

Born the son of a worker, Josef Beckmann attended elementary school and completed a commercial apprenticeship. Then he trained at the adult education center and the administration and business academy. From 1917 he was employed by Friedrich Krupp AG , most recently as authorized signatory and head of human resources, in Essen.

Beckmann was a leading member of the Christian Social Party from 1925 to 1930 , chairing the Essen city association and later deputy chairman of the Rhineland regional association. After the Second World War , he joined the CDU. Because of his election to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament in 1950, he renounced a mandate in Essen. Beckmann became a member of the first elected council of the city of Essen in 1946, of which he was a member until 1951. In 1953 he succeeded Albert Meurer as district chairman of the Essen CDU and remained so until 1965. Beckmann was also a member of the state executive committee of the Rhenish CDU and the federal party committee.

In addition, Beckmann became honorary director of the Margarethe Krupp Foundation in 1948 .

From July 5, 1950 to July 4, 1954 and from July 21, 1958 to July 23, 1966 Beckmann was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was elected directly in constituencies 061 Essen-West and 065 Essen VI.
