Josef Bieberle (2010)

Josef Bieberle (born January 19, 1929 in Loštice , Czechoslovakia ; † January 12, 2018 ) was a Czech historian who specialized in political, social and regional history. Between 1964 and 1966 he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty of the Palacký University in Olomouc .

Life

Josef Bieberle graduated in 1952 with a degree in history and the Czech language from the Philosophical Faculty of the Palacký University in Olomouc. Until 1959 he worked at the chair for Marxism-Leninism , from 1959 at the chair for history. Between 1964 and 1966 he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty of the Palacký University in Olomouc. Because of his political activities during the Prague Spring , he was dismissed from the university in 1970 and banned from publication. In 1990 he was rehabilitated and was able to work again at Palacký University. He retired in 1992, but did research as a historian until his death.
