Fredy Schär

Fredy Schär (born January 18, 1964 in the canton of Basel-Landschaft ) is a Swiss songwriter , trobador , cabaret artist and joke teller .

Life

Fredy Schär was born into a farming family and has two sisters. Maternal grandfather was the farmer and painter Karl Pümpin , his great-uncle the painter Fritz Pümpin . He himself spent his youth in Häfelfingen and Gelterkinden , so he grew up in the Basel area . He attended secondary school in Gelterkinden in the progymnasiale classes. Even while he was still at school, his cabaret talent was noticed, he was the class clown. Musically he was also noticed as a singer and bass guitarist in a school band. His great musical role models are Paul McCartney from the Beatles and of course the Bern troubadour Mani Matter .

After finishing school, he did an apprenticeship with a master farmer and attended the Ebenrain Agricultural School (now the Ebenrain Agricultural Center - LZE) in Sissach . He had his first major appearances there. On the final evenings he parodied the peculiarities of the teaching staff to various melodies, to the great amusement of the audience.

In 1998 he took over his parents' farm at Rünenbergerstrasse 2 in Gelterkinden. The livestock industry and his performances in the evenings did not go well together, so that he soon sold his cows and since then has only devoted himself to farming. In the meantime, Fredy Schär has already performed over 5,000. His learned profession as a farmer became a leisure activity and his previous hobby as an entertainer has been his main occupation ever since.

In 1999 he reached the final of the Swiss Comedy Award . He has appeared several times with various well-known comedy stars and has made several guest appearances in the Tabourettli in the Theater Fauteuil in Basel. He also appeared on the Swiss television program Samschtig-Jass , as well as at the 2014 Arosa Humor Festival , where the 700 guests asked him to return to the stage three times with standing ovations. The artist, who is mainly entertaining in Basel dialect, has already celebrated successes in Alemannic countries near the border. His song Frömdsproche was released in 2009 on the sampler The greatest Swiss hits - Lustig & witzig . The CD entered the Swiss charts at number 10 on November 8, 2009 , achieved a top position at number 9 and stayed in the top 100 for a total of six weeks. In addition, the sampler was ranked 1899 on the all-time best list with 84 points.

Fredy Schär lives in Gelterkinden, is married and has three sons.
