Josef Fiedler (composer)
Josef Fiedler (born April 9, 1898 in Vienna , † March 16, 1970 ibid) was an Austrian composer, conductor and pianist.
Live and act
Josef Fiedler took piano lessons from the age of six. With the saxofinist and clarinetist Heinrich Blaser , he founded the Sonora Band in 1923 , which soon became a popular Viennese ensemble with jazz music and performed at home and abroad. During and after the Second World War, Fiedler composed numerous Viennese songs , mostly together with the lyricist Josef Petrak , interpreted primarily by Hansl Schmid . From 1953 Fiedler appeared regularly as his pianist in his Schmid Hansl concert café in Schulgasse in the 18th district. He also performed as a solo entertainer in various Viennese establishments.
Fiedler's work includes around 450 Viennese songs, dance music and stage music.
His grave is located in the honor grove of the Vienna Central Cemetery .
