Josef Illík

Josef Illík (born September 10, 1919 - January 21, 2006 ) was a Czech cameraman .

Josef Illík was one of the most prominent cameramen in his country. He was a frequent cameraman for such directors as Karel Kachyňa , Václav Krška , Jaroslav Balík , Antonín Kachlík and Otakar Vávra . With the former he shot the youth film The Girl and the Black Stallion ( Trápení ) in 1962 . He made his most famous films with director Václav Vorlíček , including Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella ( Tři Oříšky pro Popelku , 1973) and The Prince and the Evening Star ( Princ a Večernice , 1979). In 1965 he shot the award-winning film Das Haus in Karpfengasse with Kurt Hoffmann . Edith Schultze-Westrum , Jana Brejchová and Wolfgang Kieling played in this German-Czech joint production .
