Josef Kastner (politician)

Josef Kastner (born March 14, 1904 in Marktredwitz ; † January 1, 1959 there ) was a German politician ( BVP , CSU ).

Kastner attended elementary school in Marktredwitz, did a banking apprenticeship and went to the commercial advanced training school in Marktredwitz. For some time he was a clerk in a number of private companies. In 1929 he began to work for the labor administration, the forerunner of the employment office, in the same year he was elected as the youngest city councilor of the BVP to the city council of Marktredwitz. During the Second World War , Kastner was a government official in the labor administration in occupied Poland . Back at home, he was appointed deputy head of the employment office in Bayreuth in 1947 . In 1948 he was re-elected to the city council of Marktredwitz, now for the CSU. At the same time he became second mayor of the city, which was then again independent. In addition, from 1952 he was chairman of the CSU in Marktredwitz, assessor at the social court in Hof and district chairman of the Bavarian Football Association in Upper Franconia, as well as other honorary posts.

In the state elections in 1958 , Kastner was elected to the Bavarian state parliament via the Upper Franconian constituency list. Until his death on New Year's Eve, he only attended two sessions of the state parliament. His successor was Simon Nüssel .
