Josef Kerschensteiner
Josef Alois Kerschensteiner (born January 13, 1864 in Augsburg , † 1936 in Stuttgart ) was a German animal painter .
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He trained at the art academy in Karlsruhe and concentrated on animal painting. One of his Karlsruhe teachers was Heinrich von Zügel , an impressionist animal painter who had a considerable influence on Kerschensteiner's artistic development. Kerschensteiner preferred elephants and camels in particular in his paintings and often depicted the colors of parrots.
Josef Kerschensteiner was a member of the Stuttgarter Künstlerbund and one of Willi Baumeister's teachers .
