Josef Kraft

Josef Kraft (born October 16, 1879 in Unterstinkenbrunn , † May 19, 1945 in Bad Hall ) was an Austrian archivist and local history researcher.

Life

After attending grammar school in Hollabrunn , Kraft studied at the University of Innsbruck , where he received his doctorate in 1905. Initially employed for many years at the Tyrolean Provincial Archives in Innsbruck , he moved to Vienna in 1921 , where he was appointed Provincial Archives Director of Lower Austria.

His research on Viennese historical research, in particular on the history of the former Viennese suburb of Ober Sankt Veit , gained importance .

Awards

  • In 1987 the Josef-Kraft-Weg in Vienna- Hietzing was named after him.
