Josef Leinweber

Josef Leinweber (born April 9, 1940 in Fulda ; † August 18, 1992 there ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and theologian .

Life

He grew up in Dietges . After attending grammar school in Münsterschwarzach and Fulda, he studied philosophy and theology in Fulda and Munich . Adolf Bolte ordained him as a priest on April 10, 1965. To continue and deepen his knowledge, after two years of chaplaincy at Florenberg , Parish Pilgerzell, Leinweber was released to study at the University of Munich for the winter semester 1967/68 . In the winter semester 1970/71 he was at Hermann Tüchle with the dissertation The Bishopric of Fulda before the Reformation doctorate . In 1975 he completed his habilitation thesis with Walter Brandmüller at the University of Augsburg . He was a research assistant at Brandmüller's chair and in 1975 he became Eduard Schick's personal advisor and private secretary .

With the performance of a teaching position in 1975 and the appointment as professor for ancient church history, patristic theology and Christian archeology in 1976 at the Philosophical-Theological University of Fulda, while at the same time performing the duties of the chair for medieval and modern church history, church art and monument preservation since 1982 and with assigned to teach at the Catholic Theological Seminar of the University of Marburg .

Commemoration

Every three years at the Fulda Theological Faculty, the Josef Leinweber Prize, endowed with 5000 euros, is awarded for scientific research in the field of the history and intellectual history of the abbey and the diocese of Fulda.
