Josef "Sepp" Leitner (born January 29, 1972 in Scheibbs , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and since April 10, 2019 mayor of the city of Wieselburg .

From 2008 to 2013 he was regional party chairman of the SPÖ Lower Austria and second deputy governor ( regional government Pröll V ). From 1996 to 2000, as well as from 2015 to 2019, he was councilor of the city of Wieselburg and from 2000 to 2008 city council there.

education

Sepp Leitner attended the HLBLA Francisco Josephinum from 1986 to 1991 , specializing in agricultural engineering. He then studied social and economic sciences from 1992 to 1995 (specializing in social economics ). He wrote his diploma thesis on the topic of new working hours - an Austrian discussion . Between 1995 and 1996 he completed his doctorate in social and economic sciences. His dissertation was on the cybernetics of the community social system - conditions for the stability of a democratic system , with which he obtained his doctorate in social and economic sciences.

Professional background

From 1996 to 1998 he was the managing director of the Transjob association (business field: employment and qualification measures in the Mostviertel ) and from 1998 to 2000 he worked for the management consultancy firm WertImpulse.

From 2000 to 2007 he worked as a business management consultant for the AKNÖ and from 2007 to 2008 he was regional manager of the SPÖ Lower Austria.

Since 2013 Leitner has been head of the department for works council and functionaries training in the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Lower Austria .

Political career

Sepp Leitner was councilor of the city of Wieselburg from 1996 to 2000 and councilor for economic affairs from 2000 to 2008. In 2007 he became regional manager of the SPÖ, Lower Austria. After the state election in 2008 he was appointed as successor to Heath Maria Onodi the state party chairman and Deputy Governor in the state government Pröll V selected. In 2008, he resigned from his position in the municipal council of the city of Wieselburg and from his position as regional manager of the SPÖ, Lower Austria. After the state election in Lower Austria , he resigned on March 3, 2013 from his position as state party chairman.

From 2015 Leitner was again a councilor in the city of Wieselburg, in April 2019 he succeeded Günther Leichtfried as mayor of Wieselburg.

Private

Josef Leitner lives in Wieselburg. He is married and has three children.
