Josef Müller (racing driver)

Josef "Sepp" Müller (born August 29, 1906 in Munich ; † November 1963 ) was a German motorcycle racer .

Career

Müller began his career before the Second World War in the sidecar of BMW machines of Wiggerl Kraus and Josef Stelzer . He competed in his first race in 1932. In 1935 he won the FIM World Trophy in Kraus' "Boot" at the 17th International Six-Day Race in Oberstdorf . After the war, Müller drove himself and always remained loyal to the BMW brand.

In 1947, 1948 and 1949 he became German champion in the sidecar class up to 1200 cm³, in 1947 with Josef Wenzhofer, in 1948 with Karl Fuchs or Karl Rührschneck and in 1949 also with a mixer. In 1951 the regulations were changed. The 1200 class was canceled and 750 cc machines were used. Sepp Müller won the German championship in the new class together with Hermann Huber. When, after the 1952 season, the 750 cc class was also deleted from the calendar, Sepp Müller withdrew from racing.

His name is found almost in the winner lists all German race tracks, including three victories at Hockenheim motorcycle racing and on the Norisring , two in the Eifel Race on the Nürburgring and one each victory in the Eilenriede race in Hanover , the Hamburg city park race , when Feldbergrennen at, All around Schotten , at the Grenzlandring race and the Dieburger Dreiecksrennen .
