Josef Werner "Beppi" Mayer (born June 22, 1988 in Rosenheim ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who has been playing for EV Lindau in the Oberliga Süd since December 2013 .

Career

Mayer started his career at the age of four with SB DJK Rosenheim . There he went through all youth teams up to the school team. In 2003 he decided to move to EV Landshut in the German junior league, with which he achieved play-off home law for the following three years. In Landshut, Mayer gained his first experience in professional hockey by being the second goalkeeper behind Sebastian Vogl , Jan Münster and Martin Cinibulk . Before the 2006/07 season he left Landshut and was signed by the upper division EHC Klostersee , where Mayer took on the role of first goalkeeper after the regular goalkeeper Florian Hochhäuser had ended early and completed the rest of the season. The 19-year-old then returned to EV Landshut, where he was the second goalkeeper behind Martin Cinibulk. In the 2007/08 season he came on seven missions.

From 2008 he played as a substitute for Christian Rohde for the Ravensburg Towerstars, with whom he won the championship in the 2010/2011 season before returning to his home club in June 2011. Since December 2013 he has been under contract with the Bayern division EV Lindau . In the 2014/2015 season he won the Bavarian ice hockey championship with EV Lindau.

Mayer played for all Bavarian national teams, as well as for Germany in the U16, U17, U18 and U20 selections.
