Josef Meiners

Josef Meiners (born June 20, 1931 in Freren ; † May 23, 2020 ) was a German district administrator and local politician ( CDU ).

Life

He was born in 1931 as the son of a farmer from Freren on his parents' farm on Sunderberg. At the age of 25, he was first elected to the district council of the Lingen district for the CDU in 1956 . After the district reform he had a seat in the Emsland district council between 1977 and 2001. From 1969 to 1991 he was mayor of the joint municipality of Freren . Between 1981 and 2001 he was honorary district administrator in the Emsland district . In the elections in 1986, 1991 and 1996 there was re-election. He was awarded the Emsland Medal as one of the first three winners on August 3, 1987.
