Josef Menke (born September 3, 1959 in Gersten ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

In 1987, Menke moved from VfL Herzlake to the then second division club SV Meppen after he had been named Oberliga footballer of the year in 1986 . In 1990 he was named " Sportsman of the Year in Emsland " and in 1994 Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year . The midfielder played a total of 246 second division games for the SVM until 1997, in which he scored 50 goals. After the end of his career, Menke worked, among other things, as an assistant coach for the first team at SV Meppen.

Until 2012 he was co-trainer of the second men's team at SV Meppen together with Robert Thoben .
