Josef Mitscha from Märheim

Josef Mitscha von Märheim (born January 14, 1828 in Jaromeritz as Josef Mitscha-Märheim , † August 22, 1907 in Mistelbach ) was a lawyer , banker and politician in the Austrian Empire .

Life

Mitscha-Märheim studied at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1857 , Dr. jur. From 1864 he worked as a court and court advocate . Over the course of his career, he gained significant influence in banking . Among other things, he was a board member of various banks, chairman of the board of directors of Nordwestbahn and board member of the horticultural company . He made particular merits in connection with the introduction of the Raiffeisenkassen system . In 1872 he was ennobled and was henceforth allowed to bear the title of Knight of Märheim . In the same year he bought the Ebendorf estate, where he had a fine fruit plantation and a park laid out. From 1878 to 1896 he represented the large landowners as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Josef Mitscha von Märheim died on August 22, 1907 in Mistelbach and was buried at the Hietzingen cemetery .
