Josef Molterer

Josef Molterer (born March 10, 1925 in Sierning in Upper Austria; died September 15, 2018 in Steyr ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Josef Molterer graduated from the agricultural college in Schlierbach and took over his parents' farm as a farmer. In 1978 he became an economics councilor. Since his marriage remained childless, he adopted his nephew Wilhelm Kletzmayr so that he could inherit the farm.

Josef Molterer began his political career as an ÖVP councilor in Sierning in 1961, of which he was a member until 1985. From 1967 to 1976 he was Vice Mayor. In addition to this activity, he performed numerous functions in the ÖVP, in the farmers' union and in the Chamber of Agriculture .

From 1980 to 1986 he was a member of the Federal Council and then moved to the National Council . There he held a mandate for a business period until 1990.
