Josef Perscheid

Josef Perscheid (also: Joseph Perscheid ; born January 9, 1878 in Koblenz ; † May 29, 1942 in Vienna ) was a German-Austrian press photographer , war photographer , entrepreneur and self-employed photo agent .

Life

Josef Perscheid was born in Koblenz in 1878 during the founding of the German Empire . At the beginning of the 20th century he was already working in Berlin for the Berlin illustration company there .

In 1911 Perscheid founded the Welt-Preß-Photo photo agency.

During the First World War , Joseph Perscheid worked as a photographer for the Austrian Imperial and Royal War Press Quarters (KPQ).

After the war, Perscheid worked both as a press photographer and as a photo agent until the late 1920s. He died at the time of National Socialism during the Second World War on May 29, 1942 in Vienna.
