Josef Pick

Josef "Jupp" Pick (born December 14, 1916 in Efferen ; † March 14, 2002 in Hürth ) was an honorary sports manager in Hürth and was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit as such , most recently with 1st class .

Act

Jupp Pick or "Mister Sport" of the city of Hürth, who was close to the SPD and was Federal Railway Secretary, was a co-founder of the municipal / city sports association in 1950, which he chaired for over 40 years. Most recently he was honorary chairman . In the 1970s he organized the Hürth Sports Week. As a member of the sports committee, he was the link to the council and administration. In the mid-1960s he was a member of around 30 clubs in Hürth.

Awards

Pick already received the Merit Medal in 1972, the Merit Cross on Ribbon followed in 1980 and then on March 11, 1989 the Merit Cross 1st Class. The city awarded him a gift of honor and a ring of honor and in 2007 named a street after him in his Efferen district .
