Josef Rist

Josef Rist (* 1962 in Heimenkirch ) is a German Catholic church historian . Since April 1, 2009 he has been Professor of Ancient Church History, Patrology and Christian Archeology at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

Life

Rist studied Catholic Theology ( Diploma ), Ancient History , Philology of the Christian Orient and Christian Archeology ( MA ) in Munich , Rome , Milwaukee and Würzburg and became Proklos of Constantinople and his Tomus ad Armenios in 1993 . Studies on the life and work of a Constantinopolitan bishop of the fifth century doctorate before the 1994 priests of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising ordained was. He then worked as a research assistant at the universities of Munich and Würzburg. From 2004 to 2009 he was a university lecturer for church history at the Institute for Catholic Theology at RWTH Aachen University .
