Josef Schatz (politician, 1905)

Josef Schatz (born February 6, 1905 in Amberg ; † October 3, 1993 ibid) was a German lawyer and politician ( BVP , later CSU ).

Life and work

After high school sweetheart took a degree in law at which he awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished. He was admitted to the bar in 1931 and founded his own law firm in Amberg in 1932. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . After the end of the war he continued his practice as a lawyer.

He was a member of the Catholic student association KSStV Alemannia Munich .

Political party

Schatz had joined the BVP before 1933, but it was dissolved after the National Socialists came to power. Since he had been a leader in the Bayernwacht , the armed hall protection association of the BVP, during the Weimar Republic , he was politically persecuted after 1933 and temporarily taken into "protective custody" . After 1945 Schatz was one of the co-founders of the CSU in the Upper Palatinate . At times he was chairman of the CSU district association Amberg .

MP

Schatz belonged to the German Bundestag in its first legislative period, i.e. from 1949 to 1953. In parliament he represented the constituency of Amberg , where he was directly elected with 33.5% of the valid votes cast.
