Josef Schlick

Josef Schlick (born November 15, 1895 in Frankenthal ; † February 16, 1977 in Mainz ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending school, Schlick completed technical and commercial training in pump and valve construction. During his youth he was involved in the youth and sports movement and in the Christian union . In 1917 he was employed as a sales correspondent in the Frankenthal machine industry, worked from 1920 to 1922 as a sales manager in a fittings factory in Frankfurt am Main and then until 1925 as a department manager in a pipe and fittings wholesaler. In 1925 he was first a co-founder of a wholesaler for valves and pumps in Frankfurt am Main, then in 1954 he was the founder and co-owner of a wholesale company for central heating supplies in Mainz-Gonsenheim .

Political party

In 1945 Schlick participated in the founding of the CDP , from which the Rhineland-Palatinate state association of the CDU emerged in 1946. He had been chairman of the CDU district association Alzey since 1946 , was elected to the state board of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate in 1949 and acted as chairman of the CDU district association Rheinhessen from 1950 to 1968 . He was also a member of the federal party committee of the Christian Democrats.

Schlick was elected to the district council of the Alzey district in 1946. In 1946/47 he was initially a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and then until his resignation on November 4, 1953 and again from 1955 to his resignation on September 26, 1957, a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag . Here he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from 1955 to 1957. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1965. In parliament he represented the constituency of Mainz .
