Josef Steinböck (politician)

Josef Steinböck (born December 4, 1927 in Frauenhofen ; † August 7, 2001 in Hausleiten ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1966 to 1970 and a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1970 to 1986 .

education and profession

Steinböck attended the elementary school Frauenhofen from 1933 to 1937 and the secondary school Horn from 1937 to 1941. He then graduated from agricultural vocational school and did military service from 1944 to 1945 during the Second World War. He then attended the Mistelbach agricultural college from 1946 to 1948 and worked as a farmer between 1955 and 1987. In addition, from 1962 to 1994 he was chairman of the Raiffeisen warehouse in Horn and from 1964 to 1922 a member of the board of the Association of Rural Cooperatives.

politics

Steinböck was involved as a local councilor in Frauenhofen between 1955 and 1960 and became mayor of the community in 1960. After the community gathering, he took over the office of mayor of St. Bernhard-Frauenhofen from 1970 to 1996 . He represented the ÖVP Lower Austria from January 7, 1966 to May 4, 1970 in the Federal Council and was then a member of the Lower Austrian Landtag from May 8, 1970 to January 20, 1986. Within the party, he worked as district party chairman of the ÖVP Horn between 1965 and 1970, he was also the main district party chairman, from 1965 to 1970 Chamber Councilor of the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry for Lower Austria and from 1965 to 1989 Chamberlain for Farmers of the Horn District.

Trivia

Steinböck is the son of Governor Johann Steinböck . Josef and his wife Charlotte Steinböck were killed in a serious traffic accident in 2001.
