Josef Stump
Josef Stump (* 1883 in Unterschönenbuch ; † March 21, 1929 in Schwyz ) was a Swiss Schwyzerörgeler . Josef Stump, who comes from Schwyz but was born in the municipality of Ingenbohl , is still today a role model for many Schwyzerörgelers in Central Switzerland.
Life
Little is known about Josef Stump's youth. His father, Melchior Stump, was an alphorn and Büchel blower, but how much he learned from him is unclear. There are some original recordings on shellac records from around 1911–1914, which Josef Stump recorded with Xaver Betschart as a Schwyz hand organ duet. Most of it, however, was passed on from Balz Schmidig to Martin Nauer, the father of the accordionist of the same name , and from him in turn to other Schwyzerörgelers such as Alois Lüönd and Seebi Schmidig. Martin Nauer is also known as the «Örgelidoktor», as he tuned and repaired the Schwyzerörgelis in Schwyz in his workshop for decades. There are a few records of him. The violin player Blum paid for Josef Stump's first Schwyzerörgeli , which he paid for with public appearances. With Balz Schmidig, he also recorded 15 tracks as the Berglerkapelle formation (around 1920), which are still considered milestones in the history of country music.
He lived in Ingenbohl , Steinen and most recently in Aargau .
