Balz Schmidig (born July 17, 1894 in Schwyz ; † November 7, 1947 there ) was a Swiss Schwyzerörgeler . The courtship Schmidig, who comes from Schwyz , is still today , together with Josef Stump , a role model for many Schwyzerörgelers in Central Switzerland.

Life

He lived in Oberschönenbuch near Ibach . Around 1920 he played with Josef Stump as a band called Berglerkapelle. There are 15 titles from this duet on shellac records from this period. After Stump's death Schmidig played with various other musicians, with the clarinetist Karl Mösch from Zurich, the "Echo vom Fronalpstock", the Handörgeler Josef Tonazzi from Unterschönenbuch, with whom he recorded four dances in 1934 and finally with Martin Nauer from Schwyz, with the In 1945 he recorded another 14 pieces with Josef Wiget on bass. In 1947 he died of a stomach ailment at the age of 53. Martin Nauer, the father of the accordionist of the same name , passed on this knowledge from Stump-Schmidig to other Schwyzerörgelers such as Alois Lüönd and Seebi Schmidig. Martin Nauer is also known as the «Örgelidoktor», as he tuned and repaired the Schwyzerörgelis in Schwyz in his workshop for decades. There are a few records of him.
