Josef Taschenk
Josefaschek (born July 31, 1857 in Budweis ; † January 29, 1939 there ) was a Bohemian politician .
Life
Born as the son of a wholesale merchant, Taschenk studied mechanical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology after attending secondary school in Budweis . During his studies in 1875 he became a member of the Moldavia Vienna fraternity . After completing his studies, he worked in his father's company in Budweis from 1878 to 1907. He became a member of the local Schlaraffia . In 1879 he founded the Commercial Association in Budweis. He also worked as the city inspector for the poor. In 1884 he became a city councilor . In 1884 he founded the Bohemian Forest Association , of which he was chairman until 1938. He was also the chairman of the Bohemian Forest Museum. In 1890 he founded the Höritzer Böhmerwald Passion Play . He was called "Father of the Bohemian Forest". In 1893 and from 1895 to 1901 he was a member of the state parliament of the Kingdom of Bohemia as a member of the Krumau-Kalsching-Oberplan . He was the state delegate for culture and from 1903 to 1918 the last German mayor of Budweis. In this function he made a contribution to a balance between Germans and Czechs. In 1929 he became a member of the Senate of Czechoslovakia as a representative of the German workers' and economic community for the constituency of Pilsen-Budweis and for the German Democratic Freedom Party . He wrote numerous political and historical writings.
He was an honorary member of the Corps Marchia Vienna and the Corps Saxonia Prague . In Höritz one was Taschek monument dedicated in Zliv of Josef Taschek Club founded.
