Josef Weber (born August 5, 1935 in Burghaun ) is a German police officer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending primary school, Weber trained as a carpenter and then worked in this profession. He joined the Hessian police service in 1955 and was later promoted to chief police officer. After his election to the Hessian state parliament, he retired from the police force.

Political party

Weber had been a member of the CDU since 1962. In 2007, however, he announced his resignation from the party after his advocacy of Martin Hohmann's affair in 2003 led to differences with his party. In 2005 he supported Hohmann, who stood up against the CDU candidate as an independent candidate during this period.

MP

Weber had been a councilor of the Burghaun community since 1964 and was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there. He moved into the Hünfeld district council in 1968 , became a member of the Fulda district council in 1972 and was elected chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there in 1972. From 1970 to 1995 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Honors

In 1988 Weber was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
