Josef Weismayer
Josef Weis Mayer (* 1936 in Vienna ) is an Austrian Catholic priest and emeritus professors .
Life
After graduating from high school in Hollabrunn in 1954, he entered the Vienna seminary. Franz König ordained him as a priest on June 26, 1959 in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna . From then on, Weismayer worked as a pastor and religion teacher in Guntramsdorf , in 1962 he received his doctorate sub auspiciis at the University of Vienna , and in 1974 his habilitation .
From 1976, the theologian was an associate professor at the Institute for Dogmatic Theology of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna . From 1997 until his retirement in 2004 he was professor for dogmatics.
Since June 2001 he has been a member of the cathedral chapter of St. Stephen, who has also been rector of the Stephanushaus of the Archdiocese of Vienna since 1987. In 2006 he was also elected executive chairman of the council of priests for five years.
