Michael Plattig

Michael Plattig OCarm (born September 25, 1960 in Fürth ) is a German theologian .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1979, he entered the novitiate of the Upper German Carmelite Province. He made simple profession in 1980 . As a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk, he began studying Catholic theology at the University of Bamberg in 1980 , where he graduated in 1985. In the academic year 1982/1983 he had a free semester in Vienna . He did the pastoral year (1985/1986) at the pastoral seminar of the University of the Franciscans and Capuchins in Münster . After the diaconate in Erlangen Heilig-Kreuz, Paul Friedrich Wehrle consecrated him as a priest on May 3, 1986. He did a special internship in the hospital and works in the telephone counseling in Erlangen. From 1986 to 1988 he was chaplain in the parish church Maria vom Berge Karmel (Vienna) . From 1987 to 1988 he was assistant to the provincial superior . From 1988 to 1990 he was the partner of the novice master in Springiersbach . In 1990 he began his doctorate in the subject of theology of spirituality with Josef Weismayer in Vienna and was also a half-time chaplain. From 1990 to 1993 postulate attendant in Vienna. From 1990 to 1993 he worked in the Caritas youth center (care for the homeless and drug addicts) (JUCA-Blindengasse) in Vienna. From autumn 1993 to March 1995 he was prior of Ohrdruf . From 1993 to 1997 he was training director of the Upper German Carmelite Province. Since the winter semester 1993/1994 he has been teaching as a lecturer / professor (since 1999) for theology of spirituality at Phil.-Theol. University of the Franciscans and Capuchins in Münster. In March 1994 he was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD at the University of Vienna . Since October 1st, 1994 he has been the head of the Institute for Spirituality. From 1995 to 1999 he was clergyman rector of the Cusanuswerk in Bonn (half position). In September 1998 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD at the FU Berlin together with Regina Bäumer as part of a project of the Institute for Spirituality. He has been a member of the Institutum Carmelitarum since 2001 and has been its President since October 2014. Since 2003 he has been teaching as a visiting professor at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana in Rome . Since May 1, 2004, the Mauritz Franciscan Sisters have been spiritual in Münster. From 2006 to 2008 he was an elected member of the Priest Council of the Diocese of Münster . Since the winter semester 2007 he has been a professore invitato at the Pontificia Università Antonianum . From summer semester 2012 to summer semester 2014 he was the deputy rector of the PTH Münster.
