Josef Ziegelmeyer

Josef Ziegelmeyer (born September 30, 1855 in Langenbrücken ; † May 1, 1928 there ) was a German farmer, mayor and member of the Baden state parliament.

Life

Ziegelmeyer attended the Catholic elementary school in Langenbrücken until he was 14. After finishing school, he worked in his parents' farm from 1869 and later took it over. From 1902 he was honorary mayor of Langenbrücken and from 1921 paid mayor. Ziegelmeyer was re-elected as mayor twice for nine years each. The last term of office from 1920 to 1929 he could not finish because he resigned in 1927 due to illness.

politics

In addition to his work as mayor, Ziegelmeyer was an honorary member of the Baden Chamber of Agriculture for the district of Bruchsal from 1907 to 1921. The Chamber of Agriculture represented the interests of agriculture and forestry vis-à-vis the Baden authorities.

From 1909 to 1918, Ziegelmeyer was a member of the center as an honorary member of the Baden state parliament in Karlsruhe. After the First World War, he was a member of the Baden National Assembly from 1919, which passed a democratic constitution for the state of Baden, and from 1921 he was elected to the democratic state parliament in Karlsruhe for four years . In the state election of 1925, he did not run for reasons of age.

Act

In his state parliament activities, Ziegelmeyer campaigned increasingly for agriculture, during the First World War for war-damaged agriculture, especially for the hop and tobacco growers. He also supported various branch line projects, which failed before the First World War and also afterwards due to lack of money. B. the single-lane branch line project from Mingolsheim or Langenbrücken to Östringen.

Many prominent people came to his funeral on May 3, 1928 in the Langenbrücken cemetery: mayor, state parliament and Reichstag member and, last but not least, state parliament president Eugen Baumgartner and state justice minister Gustav Trunk . At the grave, Langenbrück's mayor Franz Josef Kuhn and state parliament president Eugen Baumgartner paid tribute to Ziegelmeyer's special services. Ziegelmeyer's grave is still in a well-tended condition in the cemetery in Bad Schönborn, Bad Langenbrücken.
