Josefine Lindstrand (* 1981 in Örebro ) is a Swedish singer who has emerged in both jazz and independent rock .

Live and act

Lindstrand did not begin training as a singer and instrumentalist ( piano and saxophone ) until he was 16 and soon worked with a big band . In 2002 she took part in the concert tour of the European Jazz Youth Orchestra under the direction of Django Bates , with whom she later worked several times, including on European tours with his band Human Chain and at various concerts with the UMO Jazz Orchestra . She also brought Uri Caine for his album The Othello Syndrome ; she also recorded with David Dorůžka.

She studied at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and worked in Scandinavia with various groups, such as the Danish indie rock band Efterklang and with Maia Hirasawa and Veronica Maggio . Her debut album There Will Be Stars was named the best Swedish jazz album in 2009. In the same year she went on tour with her own band in Europe and in 2010 in China. In 2016 she received the Jazzkatten on the Swedish radio for best jazz composer of the year.
