Josefskapelle (Hochhausen)
The Josefskapelle (also Josephskapelle ) is a Roman Catholic chapel near Hochhausen , a district of Tauberbischofsheim in the Main-Tauber district . The chapel is not far from the district boundaries of Tauberbischofsheim with Werbach and Külsheim in the Maisenbachtal near a street crossing between Hochhausen, Eiersheim and Gamburg .
history
The Josefskapelle was built by Josef Freund in 1891 on the basis of a bequest from the deceased Gottfried Freund. The Freunds from Gamburg were the former owners of the Maisenbacher Mühle in the Uissigheim district , which they lived in until 1938, when it was completely destroyed by fire. In 1985 the chapel was founded in collaboration with some high school students from the Matthias Grünewald grammar school in Tauberbischofsheim under the direction of Pastor Ghiraldin, Günther Schäfer (the then mayor of Werbach), Karl Eckert (the then mayor of Gamburg) and Fritz Otzdorff (from the Gamburg homeland association) drained and renovated.
Chapel building and equipment
There is an altar inside the chapel. Shortly after a renovation in 1985, the figures of Josef, Maria and Wendelin were stolen from the chapel. Next to the chapel is a trinity shrine from 1842.
