Josep Pujol i Ripoll , or Josep Pujol for short , (* 1904 in Olot ; † 1987 ibid) was a Catalan painter who followed the tradition of the Olot School .

Josep Pujol was a student of the Catalan painter Iu Pascual . He developed a constructivist-schematic version of the Olot School not only in landscape painting, but also in still life and interiors. His works are characterized by a peculiar clarity, precision and sophistication. Like his teacher Iu Pascual, Pujol himself was artistically marginalized after the Spanish Civil War for political reasons. Nevertheless, with his artistic approach he became the leading figure of the younger painter colleagues Pere Plana i Puig , Joan Clapera i Mayà , Àngel Codinach , Jordi Farjas and others. Pujol took part in important exhibitions in Spain such as the "Art Català" in Madrid, exhibitions in the gallery "Dalmau de Barcelona" or in the "Sala Parés" (1928, 1930, 1934). Very late he was awarded the Catalan art prize “La Punyalada” (1966) and the Sant Jordi prize (1983) of the Catalan regional government. Despite all the constructivist developments, he remained true to the aesthetics of the Olot School throughout his life.
