Joseph Albert (born May 25, 1890 in Bösperde , † October 15, 1957 in Fröndenberg ) was a German editor.

Life

Joseph Albert came from Westphalia, was the son of the chain smith Wilhelm Albert and his wife Elisabeth, born Wiemann, and was Catholic. After attending grammar school, he initially wanted to become a missionary and from 1909 attended the mission school in Steyl, the Netherlands . However, he changed his career aspirations and studied and graduated as Dr. phil. He then worked as an editor, first in Rheine and then in Münster . He later moved to Dresden as editor-in-chief . Finally he went back to Westphalia.

At the age of 29 he published his first poem To my mother in the Phaeton . After that, Albert wrote essays and countless cultural, political and art-critical treatises for daily newspapers and magazines. His main work was the novel Der Gottversucher , which was published in 1924 by the Herder & Co. GmbH publishing house.
