Joseph Artur (2006)

Joseph Arthur (born September 28, 1971 in Akron , Ohio ) is an American singer-songwriter and folk rock singer. He releases under his own label, Lonely Astronaut Records.

Career

Joseph Arthur's career began in the early 1990s when he was recording some demos in his apartment . In 1997 he was discovered by Peter Gabriel and taken under contract. He released the EP Vacancy, which was nominated for a Grammy . In addition to the guitar, he also plays the harmonica and bass.

With the second album Come to Where I'm From recorded in 2000, he achieved his final breakthrough. After the live album Gipsy Tea Room , his third album Redemption's Son followed in May 2002 . In 2005 his fourth album Our Shadows Will Remain was released . Since 2006 he has been a member of his (former) tour band The Lonely Astronauts .

In February 2010 he founded the band Fistful of Mercy with Ben Harper and Dhani Harrison . The band released their debut album As I Call You Down on October 5, 2010 on the HOT Records label.

In 2014 he released the album Lou with cover versions of songs by Lou Reed, who had died the year before .
