Joseph Bauer (politician, 1875)

Joseph Bauer , also Philipp Bauer (born January 15, 1875 in Mainz , † April 17, 1931 ibid) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Joseph Bauer was the son of the printer Philipp Peter Bauer and his wife Katharina nee Gründewald. Joseph Bauer, who was initially of a Catholic faith (he later left the church), was married to Margaretha Christina Katharina, née Dreher.

Joseph Bauer worked as a businessman in Mainz. From 1901 to 1902 he was an honorary member of the board, October 1902 to March 1908 a full-time member of the board (cashier) and April 1908 to his death managing director of the local consumer association . [1919] Until 1931 he was a member of the General Council of the Großeinkaufs-Gesellschaft Deutscher Consumvereine . In addition, he was a member of the supervisory board of numerous non-profit and cooperative companies, including the Südwestdeutsche Konsumvereine, the GEG and the purchasing company for Hesse.

From 1914 to 1931 he was a city councilor and temporarily deputy mayor in Mainz. He was a member of the Mainz district council. In the years 1919–1921 he was a member of the state parliament.
