Joseph Binder Award
The Joseph Binder Award (JBA) is the only design competition in Austria in the field of graphic design and illustration with an international focus. It has been carried out every two years by designaustria, an interest association and knowledge center for design in Austria, since 1996 .
The competition is named after Joseph Binder , one of the great graphic designers and illustrator in Austria in the interwar period, who later revolutionized visual design in the United States.
The entries for the Joseph Binder Award are judged by an international jury of experts, in which, for example, Cordula Alessandri , Lo Breier , Gerd Dumbar , Fons Hickmann , Freda Sack , Stefan Sagmeister , Niklaus Troxler and Lars Müller were represented.
In 2014, 340 graphic designers and illustrators from 29 countries submitted. 9 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze awards were presented at the award ceremony in the Museumsquartier Wien. A catalog will be published to accompany the award ceremony in which all nominated projects are documented and the members of the international jury are presented.
The award has been held in collaboration with the International Council of Graphic Design Association since 2014 .
