Joseph Charlier

Joseph Charlier (born June 20, 1816 in Brussels ; † December 6, 1896 there ) was a Belgian lawyer , writer , accountant and businessman .

Charlier was influenced by Charles Fourier .

Charlier was one of the first advocates of the so-called " unconditional basic income " in the 19th century . He is mentioned in some works of Belgian socialism and liberalism . Charlier took the view that every citizen was originally co- owner of the national territory of the respective state. The state authorities therefore have to pay him an amount that corresponds to the land yield of his share. His work "Solution duproblemème ...", written in 1848, is still received in relevant research in the 21st century.
