Joseph Edra Ukpo

Joseph Edra Ukpo (born June 6, 1937 in Okpoma ) is retired Archbishop of Calabar .

Life

Joseph Edra Ukpo was ordained a priest for the diocese of Ogoja on April 25, 1965 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on April 24, 1971 auxiliary bishop in Ogoja and titular bishop of Chullu . The Bishop of Ogoja, Thomas McGettrick SPS , donated him episcopal ordination on September 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Dominic Ignatius Ekandem , Bishop of Ikot Ekpene , and Brian David Usanga , Archbishop of Calabar .

On March 1, 1973, he was appointed Bishop of Ogoja. Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Calabar on December 17, 2003.

On February 2, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation put forward by Joseph Edra Ukpo for reasons of age.
