Joseph Edward Troy

Joseph Edward Troy (born September 3, 1931 in Chatham ) is Bishop Emeritus of Saint John, New Brunswick .

Life

Joseph Edward Troy was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Bathurst on May 28, 1959 .

Pope John Paul II named him Coadjutor Bishop of Saint John, New Brunswick on March 1, 1984 . He received episcopal ordination from the Bishop of Saint John, New Brunswick, Arthur Joseph Gilbert , on May 22nd of the same year; Co- consecrators were Edgar Godin , Bishop of Bathurst , and Francis John Spence , Archbishop of Kingston and Bishop of the Canadian Military Ordinary .

After Arthur Joseph Gilbert's resignation , he succeeded him on April 2, 1986 as Bishop of Saint John, New Brunswick. He resigned from his office on September 24, 1997.
