Joseph Farcus

Joseph Jay Farcus (born June 17, 1944 in McKeesport , Pennsylvania ) is an American architect who is known in particular for his work as an interior designer for cruise ships for the tourism group Carnival Corporation & plc .

Farcus studied architecture at the University of Florida and was licensed in 1969. At that time he was the youngest member of the "American Institute of Architects in the USA". His first assignment for the cruise industry was the project management for the modernization of the "Carnivale" in 1975. Two years later, Farcus founded his architectural office in Miami . Since then he has designed the interior of the entire "Carnival" fleet, including that of the Carnival Destiny , the first passenger ship over 100,000 GT . The common identification mark of all Carnival ships since the Tropicale was built , the chimney, the upper part of which consists of two wings pointing outwards on both sides, goes back to Farcus. He took up a design feature of France . He was also involved in the design of Queen Mary 2 .

His other projects include a 23-storey residential building in Miami, the "Crystal Palace" hotel in Nassau (Bahamas) and several cruise ships for the Italian shipping company Costa Crociere SpA

Joseph Farcus is married and has three children. He lives in Miami.
