Joseph Corneille Hubert Hollman (born October 26, 1852 in Maastricht , † December 31, 1926 in Paris ) was a Dutch cellist and composer.

At the age of 14, the merchant's son Joseph Hollman joined Adrien-François Servais' cello class at the Brussels Conservatory. He received music theory lessons from François-Joseph Fétis . Further cello studies led him to Léon Jacquard (1826–1886) in Paris and to Karl Davidow in Saint Petersburg. In the early 1880s he played in the orchestra of the Meiningen court theater . In 1887 he settled in Paris as a soloist, where he became one of the most important cellists of his time. Joseph Hollman undertook concert tours to most European countries and the United States. In 1923 he first toured China, then Japan, where he gave the emperor his valuable Stradivari cello. According to his last wish, Joseph Hollman was buried in the family grave in the Maastricht cemetery in the presence of the entire city council, the French consul and several Maastricht orchestras and bands.

Hollman received numerous awards, the Dutch King Wilhelm III. appointed him court chamber musician and officer of the Order of the Oak Crown . A year later he became the Knights Legion of Honor in France, he was Knight of the Crown of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and the Japanese emperor appointed him an officer of the Order of the Rising Sun .

Camille Saint-Saëns , who had a duo performance with Hollmann in London, dedicated his 2nd Cello Concerto in D minor op. 119 to him in 1902 and the work “La Muse et le Poète” op. 132 he dedicated to Hollman and Eugène Ysaÿe .

As a composer, Hollman created several works for his instrument, including three cello concertos, chamber music for cello and piano, and opera fantasies.
