Joseph Khoury (Archbishop)
Joseph Khoury (born October 24, 1919 in Bekassine , Lebanon ; † February 5, 1992 ) was Maronite Archbishop of Tire .
Life
Joseph Khoury was ordained a priest on December 20, 1942 . On April 21, 1956, he was appointed to the position of titular bishop of Ptolemais in Phenicia dei Maroniti as patriarchal vicar and auxiliary bishop in the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch . Confirmation by the Holy See took place on May 4, 1956, so that Khoury could be ordained bishop on June 29, 1956 . His appointment as Bishop of Tire was announced on December 11, 1959. When the Eparchy of Tire was elevated to an archparchy in 1965, Khoury was also elected archbishop.
During his tenure, he participated in the four sessions of the Second Vatican Council in part and worked as Mitkonsekrator in the episcopal ordinations of Chucrallah Harb bishop of Baalbek (Jordan), Joseph Salame Archbishop of Aleppo ( Syria ) and Curiacos Moussess the Chaldean Catholic Bishop of Amadiya ( Iraq ) with.
