Joseph Maria Jakob Johann Eusebius Adam Graf Fugger von Wellenburg , Lord of Wellenburg, Wasserburg, Biberbach and Welden (* July 25, 1714 , † July 21, 1764 in Welden ), was an Imperial and Bavarian Chamberlain and Commander of the Order of St. George , as well as the last representative of the Fugger-Wellenburg line .

Life

Joseph Maria was born on July 25, 1714 as the son of the Imperial Chamberlain Maximilian Anton Egidius Count Fugger von Wellenburg, Lord of Wellenburg , Wasserburg , Biberbach and Welden (1682–1717) and his wife Maria Theresia, Countess Truchsess von Waldburg-Zeil (1690– 1762) born. Due to the failure of his marriage and a smear at the imperial court in Vienna (probably prompted by his mother that there chatelaine was) was the over him imperial ban imposed. In 1743 he was arrested in Markt and locked up in Waltenhausen . After 13 months in prison he was released to Augsburg and placed under supervision. It was not until 1754 that Emperor Franz I lifted the eight again and used his old rights. According to tradition, on August 2, 1755, he suffered a hemorrhage while hunting and vowed to build a church if he recovered. On July 25, 1756, south of Welden Castle , which was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , he founded the Votive Church of St. Thekla . In 1757 he sold the Wasserburg estate to the House of Austria . When he died on July 21, 1764 at the age of 49 without heirs, the Margraviate of Burgau took over the Welden rule (which had been in the possession of his family since 1597) as an extinct male fief and established a nursing office there . He was buried in St. Thekla.

marriage

On January 16, 1735, he married the star cross order lady Maria Antonia Countess Fugger von Nordendorf (1719–1780) in Augsburg . She was the daughter of the city commandant of Augsburg Eustach Maria Graf Fugger von Nordendorf, Herr zu Duttenstein (1665–1743) and his wife Maria Eva Dorothea von Pappenheim († 1739). The marriage remained childless.
