Joseph Melchior
Joseph Wilhelm Melchior (born February 10, 1810 in Munich , † June 8, 1883 in Nymphenburg ) was a German animal painter.
Joseph Wilhelm Melchior came from a family of painters: his father Georg Wilhelm (1780–1826) and his younger brother Wilhelm (1817–1860) were painters. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich from March 2, 1825 .
Melchior occupied himself almost exclusively with painting animals, he mostly painted cows, sheep and goats. The influence of Dutch painting is noticeable in his works.
