Life
Evans was the son of the civil engineer Herbert Riche Evans and Kathleen, née Gorst. In 1963 he received his PhD from the University of Reading . After graduating, he worked at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington . In 1973 he published Cults of Unreason , in which he dealt with pseudosciences , the UFO cult and Scientology . His preoccupation with computers led to The Mighty Micro , where he delved into the aftermath and future of the computer revolution. Both books have also been translated into German.
His interest in science fiction and fantasy led him to work on the SF magazines New Worlds and Omni , as a consultant on the television series The Tomorrow People and, in 1969 and 1970, two highly acclaimed anthologies with stories from the borderline between psychology and artificial Brought out intelligence , science fiction and horror.
In 1963 he married Nancy Jane Fulmer, with whom he had two children.
The Mighty Micro became the template for a six-part television series, the first episode of which was broadcast a few days after Evans' death from cancer in October 1979.
