Joseph Paelinck
Joseph Paelinck (born March 20, 1781 in Oostacker near Gent , † June 9, 1839 in Brussels ) was a Belgian painter.
Paelinck trained at the Ghent Academy and then with Jacques-Louis David in Paris, where he painted a judgment of Paris in 1804 , which earned him the first prize of the Ghent Academy. After teaching there for a short time, he went to Rome and stayed there for five years. Here he painted, among other things:
- Rome under Augustus for the Palace of the Quirinals and the
- Finding of the cross for St. Michael's Church in Ghent.
There are still those of the pictures he took after returning home
to highlight. Most recently he was a professor at the painting academy in Brussels.
