Joseph Schnitzer (born June 15, 1859 in Lauingen , Swabia, † December 2, 1939 in Munich ) was a German Catholic theologian and church historian who was suspended as a modernist in 1908.

His main interest was Hieronymus Savonarola , whose sermons and writings he also translated into German (1928) and on whom he published his main four-volume work.
