Joseph Stadler (musician)

Joseph Stadler (born October 13, 1796 in Vienna ; † November 16, 1859 ) was an Austrian musician and composer.

Joseph Stadler's grandfather was Joseph Stadler (1724–1755), who was Regens Chori at the Kirche am Hof in Vienna and bassist in the Hofmusikkapelle. His father was Felix Stadler the Elder (1754-1824). His brother, who was also a musician and a member of St. Stephen's Cathedral Chapel, was Felix Stadler the Younger (1804–1836).

Stadler learned from his father and was a choir boy. In 1810 or 1812 he was engaged as the first violinist at the Leopoldstadt Theater . There he became orchestra director in 1818/1819. In 1827/1827 three pantomimes with his music and the choreography by Paul Rainold were premiered at the theater . He also created a violin concerto, chamber music, dances and songs. In 1818 he also became a member of the St. Stephen's Cathedral Chapel .

As a music teacher, he taught numerous instruments such as viola, violoncello, guitar and organ.
