Joseph Stevens

Joseph Stevens (born November 20, 1819 (other sources name 1816) in Brussels ; † August 2, 1892 there ) was a Belgian animal painter and etcher.

Life

Like his brother Alfred (1823–1906), Stevens also educated himself at the Paris school and worked as an animal painter in Brussels. In the yearbook of the State Art Collections in Baden-Württemberg, Volume 28 , he is referred to as a psychologizing animal painter. Works by him can be seen in the Brussels Museum of Modern Art .
