The Vesser is a 10.5 km long river in Thuringia .

The Vesser spring is located at approx. 790 m above sea level below the Wegscheide hikers' car park and southwest of the Großer Eisenberg (907 m) near Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig . The Vesser flows southwards and after about 3 km reaches the Suhl district of Vesser . Below the village begins the Vessertal, which is a core zone of the Vessertal-Thuringian Forest biosphere reserve . In the Vessertal there is a unique flora that is worth protecting . Below the Vessertal, the river flows through the village of Breitenbach , in which the Vesser flows into the stream of the same name , approximately in the center of the village .
